Yahoo! Adds Suggested Searches
Published by Picturesque on Monday, June 28, 2004 at 7:28 AM.
This isn't new technology by any means, but it is a nice addition to Yahoo!. Mamma.com and AllTheWeb.com have been offering this for some. AllTheWeb remains the most advanced.
What happens on Yahoo! is that the search results page will now have alternative searches that you can try instead of the one you selected. These results are directly under the search box.

Ask Jeeves Drops Paid Inclusion
Published by Picturesque on Friday, June 25, 2004 at 3:48 PM.
Don't spend your money at Ask Jeeves! They've just announced the end of their paid inclusion program and many marketers will try to get you to buy before the program ends.
The paid inclusion programs have put a dark cloud over search results for some time. Searchers, knowing that paid listings are given artificial precedence over free listings, mistrust such search engines. Ask Jeeves needs to gain market share and is apparently ditching a failed program in order to regain trust. We say hooray! Perhaps Yahoo! will drop their paid click program any day now. We can only hope.

As an added bonus, if you participate in Google's Ad Sense program, you can earn revenue from the ads that display in the search pages. Click Google AdSense - Overview for more details.

It's not much of a surprise as Yahoo! is abandoning Google across the board. Japan was the most recent area to find Yahoo! results are now different. How different is the real issue as we still continue to see great similarities between the two here in America for many searches.
