A Trojan Horse Targets Google Ads
Published by Picturesque on Thursday, December 29, 2005 at 11:56 AM.
It was only a matter of time before some low life decided to target Google Ads or YPM. It seems anything popular is a target. If you have GoogleAds on your web site(s), you should read this article and stay tuned to Google. Also remember as you are surfing sites that a site could be infected. Don't be offended if your local charity starts displaying ads for cheap drugs and adult products.

Yahoo! Tops Portal/Net Services Lists
Published by Picturesque on Tuesday, December 27, 2005 at 10:10 AM.
Many people expect Google to always be #1 when it comes to searching. I've been telling people for some time that Yahoo! tops Google in certain topics and in certain regions of the globe. Here's more proof. For the week ending December 11, Yahoo! is the most visited search engine. More at iMedia Connection: Google Doesn't Top Portal/Net Services Lists.
What is silly is that they also report that AOL's IM service tops Yahoo! Mail. Well duh! Can't Yahoo! have a moment to revel in it's glory without bringing up some obvious, seemingly negative statistic? Of course IM was used more than any email service. Think about what time of year it is stupid.

Billionaire seeks to derail AOL-Google deal - ZDNet UK News
Published by Picturesque on at 10:00 AM.
A primary shareholder of TimeWarner wants to stop the proposed Google and AOL deal. Although his motives may not be pure, he makes some very valid points that there are certainly better partnerships to be made. The funny thing is, it's Google shareholders that should be up in arms. Already Google has stated that they will alter their search results in favor of AOL. Now Google has announced that they will serve up image ads in their search results to cater to AOL. This is looking bad for Google. Two of the biggest features of using Google are being seriously compromised as a result of this agreement. Read more at ... Time Warner Plans to Sell 5% of AOL to Google - New York Times
Published by Picturesque on Monday, December 19, 2005 at 4:51 PM.
Looks like a loss for MSN. Google will be spending $1 billion to purchase 5% of AOL. Where you concerned about Google's purity of search results before this? Worry no more. They will be very impure. This is a definate shot in the arm that AOL needs as their userbase continues to shrink. For Google it helps prevent MSN from gaining ground in the competition to be #1. It looks like a mixed bag from here. If MSN had gained AOL then they would have the impurity issue.... oh yea.... they already have one. Still, I prefer MSN for certain searches and think that as MSN advances they will gain market share. Time Warner Plans to Sell 5% of AOL to Google - New York Times

How do Britannica and Wikipedia compare in terms of accuracy? Suprisingly they are very close. On average, Britannica has 3 errors per article and Wikipedia has four. One would have thought that with Britannica's image and length of time doing this sort of thing, that they'd be more accurate. You would also think that because of the way articles are contributed and edited in the Wikipedia that there would be many more errors. Suprises abound. What's more alarming is that you really can't trust anything you read. If the average article in a popular informational site has a number of errors, can you believe anything on the Internet? news @ nature.com - Internet encyclopaedias go head to head - Jimmy Wales' Wikipedia comes close to Britannica in terms of the accuracy of its science entries, a Nature investigation finds.
