The world may never know. Here's a great write up that sums it up at "less than you think". Yes, it's true. A few great quality links on a page is worth much more than 1,000 poor ones. Read more at

In a not so suprising move, Google has shut down it's page creation service. Hammered with overwhelming submissions and blasted by critics, Google did the wise thing and shut down the new beta service. It may return, but unless it get's a major re-vamp, it'll never be anything except an upgraded Geocities. Too bad really as it could have been a great secondary site method of attracting traffic to your real home page.

You should have been in pictures. Well, now you can do that and broadcast your own television station. Democracy Internet TV offers free video channels published by anyone who wants to join the fun. Sure to be a medium for advertisers, it also appears to be a fun place to visit and waste more time goofing off. If your company has a number of entertaining videos you want to share with the world, maybe this is an opportunity to broadcast your wares to the world.

Of course spam and porn will abound on this new service. Hopefully Google has a plan in place to deal with the abuse that is bound to happen.

This article is definately one man's opinion instead of pure news, but it does show one side of the debate over the subpoena the Justice Department handed Google. The Justice Department is compeling Google to turn over search records for random searches. In my opinion this tramples citizen rights as the subpoena was not created for any specific investigation. There's no specific crime being looked into. It would be like allowing law enforcement agents to randomly visit your home and search the premises. Show me a crime and I say release the records related to that crime. This is not justice and Google should be applauded for taking the stand that they are. It's officially open; no, it's closed; no, it's open. The MSN adCenter is open for Beta business. Run your ads at your own risk. MSN may be the last of the big three to have such an ad program, but they also have a good track record for attracting buyers to sites that have something to sell. Jump on the bandwagon after reading their blog at

One visitor at Digital Point asked what bla197.prod.google.com:4040/admin_flags was. It showed up on their referral logs. Turns out it's Google's Blogger admin search tool checking for objectionable content. Someone reported his site for spam or other "bad" content. Check your log files if you have a blog. More at...

Google has aquired Measure Map, an analytical program specifically designed for blogs. Sure, there's the Google Analytics, but it is cumbersome for blog sites. This program is specifically aimed at blog sites and can also be used to measure AdSense ads and help Google prevent click fraud. Read more at Google's blog...

Sounding a bit like the old 1999 marketing gimicks, MSN has announced a rewards for searching program. Of course this is to increase their search traffic by rewarding people to search on their site. Search for one of 1200 selected search terms and you could win something from a whole list of sponsors. In true Microsoft style, they had a security problem with their first release. It seems someone found all 1200 phrases in their source code already. Think they'll be changing the words soon?

Not to be left out on earning more revenue, Amazon may be finally entering the online advertising game. While we wonder how much more they can cram onto their pages, Amazon seems to be experimenting with online text ads for both the popular book and everything else site, as well as their A9 search engine.
